Sainte Maxime, McDonalds roundabout, direction Centre Ville. Take first left Chemin des Saquedes, opposite Mc's entrance. After 1.3km you arrive at a gravel area on the right (parking) and a gravel road up to the left. Take gravel road up to the left. After 300 mtrs keep left. After 400 mtrs straight on. After 1.2km take first right. 200 mtrs and keep right and then right again. You are 1km from the summit.

This is a part of the 'La Deffend' circuit. If walking I would allocate about 2 hours. Starting point Sainte Maxime, McDonalds arounabout, direction Centre Ville. Take the first left turn into Chemin des Saquedes (opposite the Macdo's entrance) and continue for about 1.3km. You will have passed all the houses (the tarmac becomes rougher) and come to a gravel area on the right, and a gravel road going up to your left. On the corner there is a billboard suggesting a couple of circuits, one of which is called La Deffend. If in a car and walking this is a good place to park; the return trip takes you back past this point.
Take the gravel road up to the left. After some 300 mtrs keep left, say hello to the donkeys if in residence, and after about 400 mtrs keep straight on, not left. After about 1km there is a hairpin bend, go another 200 mtrs and take the first turn right. Another couple of hundred mtrs and keep right and right track again. You are about 1km from the summit.
A slight variation for the way back is to go straight on, down the other side of the col and after some 700mtrs turn right and follow the route all the way back to the the car park, with just the one turn signposted La Saquedes after about 1.5km and then another 2km to the car park.
If you are doing this route in the spring the flowers are worth it let alone for the view. An unusual insect of the area the Boudrague, a sort of wingless grasshopper, is a real feature. They seem to crowd the trail in numbers, then when one of them gets squashed they then dine on their previous comrade....
Ceci est une partie du cicuit "Le Deffend". A pied environ 2 heures,pas en incluant l'arrêt à la cache. Au rond point du Mc Donald prendre la route qui permet d'entrer au Mac et tournez à gauche en face de l'entrée du Mac qui est à droite: Chemin des Saquèdes. 1.3Km plus loin (Stage 1 parking Nd Xmal et le départ de la rando) ). Au parking il y a un panneau descriptif des rando possible dont celui qui nous concerne "Le Deffend". Après 300m dites bonjour aux ânes s'ils sont visibles, après 400m allez tout droit et pas à gauche. Après environ 1km il y a un virage fort; continuez sur 200m et prenez la première à droite. Après 200m gardez votre droite et à droite une fois encore. Vous êtes à environ 1km du sommet. Une petit variation pour le retour est de descendre tout droit le long de l'autre face de la colline, et après 700m de tourner à droite en suivant la route jusqu'au parking avec juste un panneau sur lequel il est inscrit "Les Saquedes" après environ 1.5km. Il reste 2km avant votre voiture.
Si vous parcourez cette route au printemps, les fleurs sont à elles seules une raison suffisante pour l'effort, en plus de la vue... Vous rencontrerez beaucoup de Boudragues (insecte local) avec un gros corps et de longues pattes autour d'elle. Elles semble parcourir un trajet en nombre mais dés que l'une d'entre elle se fait écraser les autres inscrivent leur ex camarade à leur dîner.
