Geocache Description:

It is located on an island just off Seafield Pier, where another cache is already located! Handy! A kayak, surf board or other water equipment is required.

I am told that at very low tides it is quite accesible, and in the old days they used to drive cattle out to graze there. I went on mid tide and it was 30 min surfboard paddle. Be prepared for a trek.
The island has been populated on and off through the centuries, and many ruins and graves are visible. Long ago it was called Fitha Island and had a large population, but on March 16th 804 an earthquake/tsunami riped the island into the three visible now and drowned roughly 1,000 poeple. It was used by smuggles, hence the name Tobacco Caves for the large caves in the back of the island.
Do be careful, as there are cliffs on the back of the narrow, central area of the island exposing the caves below. The island is now only home to sheep, birds, seals, rabbits cats and a pony last time I was there...
The cache is located on the far side of the island, through lovely pasture land and bird nesting sites. Do be careful where you step, stick to the trails.
