Geocache Description:

Parking @ N 45 23.794 W 093 09.495

This is a 1.34 mile round trip hike from the parking lot.

These caches are hidden on PRIVATE PROPERTY with permission of
Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve:

They have allowed placement of these 5 geocaches along the trail on
a trial basis.

If the impact of geocaching is minimal on the area, then eventually
this area may be open to more geocaching.

Stay on the Fish Lake Nature Trail.

All geocaches are hidden with 10 feet of the trail.

All caches are regular in size and easily hidden.

There is no need to bushwack or unnecessarily disturb the
surrounding ecosystem.

Please do not hide anymore geocaches in the area.

This stately bird with the mysterious call prefers wetlands for nesting. Each spring, after returning from their winter home in southeastern U.S. or northern Mexico, pairs of Sandhill Cranes select a marsh and build their nest. Wetland areas provide the birds with the isolation they like and an abundant supply of the tubers, seeds, insects, mice and snakes they eat.

Some of Cedar Creek's most diverse and beautiful habitats have been
opened for public access. The Fish Lake Nature Trails, constructed
in 2008, begin in a tall-grass prairie and continue on to a rare
oak savanna habitat, where you can spot the uncommon red-headed
woodpecker or perhaps a flicker, meadowlark or bluebird. Follow the
trail around the south shore of Fish Lake through the marshes to
the west. The trails afford beautiful views of the lake, and you
may spot Great Blue Herons or Bald Eagles flying overhead. Sandhill
Cranes live in the wetlands to the south and white-tailed deer
browse through the surrounding forests. Along the trail grow
beautiful wild flowers such as Prairie Spiderwort, Hairy Puccoon,
or Wild Bergamot. Butterflies and dragonflies flit past in
abundance.
