This is an interesting PORT of call on Roosevelt Island
I am naming this cache in memory of my recently departed dog Izzy. She was a beloved part of our family and she is truly missed. I used one of her old medication bottles to construct the the original cache which is now inside of an abandoned cache which was found in the area. The new cache is pretty sizable and contains some small swag. It can also easily hold travel bugs and trackable items.
Roosevelt Island is a narrow island in the East River of New York. It has a rich history which has probably been greatly over shadowed by Manhattan’s. For example, it is the home of the Black House. This structure was built in 1796. In addition to being New York City’s sixth oldest house, it is one of the few remaining examples of 18th-century architecture in the city.
The island can be reached by land (via bridge), air (via tram), or sea (if you are the adventurous type). I invite you to explore the island while you are there. To the north of this cache is Lighthouse Park, where you can see the Triborough Bridge and just to the south there are some of Tom Otterness’ statues. Enjoy!
The cache contains a nano cache for the FTF
Congrats to majormajor42 for the FTF!
