Geocache Description:

Another historical plantation in our area however this plantation is said to have haunted (Louisiana spirits).
Ducros plantation is located between Houma and Thibodaux on Old Schriever Hwy
and is a 12,600 square foot home dating back to 1802. Owned by Richard
Bourgeois and his long time companion Angela Cheramine. Ducros has had its
fair share of ups and downs. From the rise of sugar cane and housing civil war
soldiers, to battles fought around the grounds, hurricanes and epidemics. Richard
and Angela have worked so hard to get the house back to being a great part of the
community as it once was and they are doing a fabulous job! They hold yearly
Halloween and Easter parties for the local children, family and friends.

History has failed to prove any unusual deaths at Ducros Plantation. It is not
certain, but there is said to have been a young child who accidentally drowned in
the adjacent well nearby as well as the house being home to the natural deaths of
many of the previous occupants.

The most common activity reported are unexplainable sounds. Foot steps heard
in the main hall by the carpenters restoring the plantation and Richard himself has
heard a strange dragging noise on the upper gallery. All reports have been during
the day. No one has spent a night at Ducros since the early to mid 70's until the
night of our investigation.

Eight investigators were present along with Ms. Angela, Mr. Richard and his
sister. We arrived at approximately 9:00pm and started the set up of our DVR
systems. Due to the size of the house, we used 7 IR cameras, multiple digital
voice recorders and digital cameras/ 1 hand held camera with an IR illuminator, 1
hand held with night vision, 1 thermal camera and other small pieces of
equipment. We then split up into 4 sets of 3 and went "lights out". During the
course of the investigation we had some personal experiences. A few
investigators heard foot steps and could not find a source. In one particular case,
Annie personally felt something touch her backside in the detached kitchen.
Sound carries well in the house and because of that we had to throw a lot of audio
out as well as re-evaluate many of the claims by past visitors. We simply could
not tell if it was someone talking in an other room or an unknown mumbling voice.

Fortunately, we have been invited back and plan to return with a smaller team to
avoid so much noise contamination. We would like to thank Richard and Angela
for having us out and we look forward to a follow-up investigation at this beautiful
and historic location.
