Découverte du patrimoine architectural de Bretteville-sur-Odon.

Au début du XIème siècle, Gonnor, veuve du Duc de Normandie Richard 1er, donne à l'Abbaye du Mont Saint Michel son domaine de Bretteville-sur-Odon et les droits qui y sont attachés.

Son fils Richard II complète cette donation en y ajoutant la paroisse de Verson. L'ensemble prend le nom de Baronnie de Bretteville-sur-Odon, seigneurie de l'Abbaye du Mont Saint Michel.

A la Révolution française, les droits seigneuriaux sont abolis. Les bâtiments et les terres appartenant en propre à l'Abbaye sont vendus comme biens nationaux.

Ils sont ensuite utilisés comme exploitation agricole.

Les bâtiments sont la propriété de la commune de Bretteville sur Odon depuis 1989. Ils constituent un ensemble exceptionnel, par son caractère architectural et témoignent d'un riche passé historique.

Discovery of the architectural heritage of Bretteville-sur-Odon.

At the beginning of the XIth century, Gonnor, widow of the 1st Duke de Normandie Richard, gives to the Abbey of the Mont Saint-Michel her domain of Bretteville-sur-Odon and the rights which are attached to it.

Her son Richard II completes this donation by adding it the parish of Verson. The set takes the name of Barony of Bretteville-sur-Odon, seigneury of the Abbey of the Mont Saint-Michel.

In the French Revolution, the seigneurial rights are abolished. Buildings and lands belonging exclusively to the Abbey are sold as the national possessions.

They are then used as farm.

Buildings are the property of the municipality of Bretteville on Odon since 1989. They establish an exceptional set, by its architectural character and testify of rich historic past.
