Cemitério
O cemitério da Conchada está
situado na antiga Quinta da Conchada, num terreno outrora pertença
de Joaquim Inácio de Miranda Pio.
Após o Decreto de 1835 e 37,
no qual se proíbem os enterros fora dos cemitérios, foi construído
o primeiro cemitério municipal na Conchada, inaugurado a 1 de
Outubro de 1860, pelo então Presidente da Câmara Dr. Raimundo
Venâncio Rodrigues.
Após meio século de um
difícil e controverso processo, o cemitério da Conchada, em
especial nas décadas de 70 e 80 do séc. XIX, viu crescer o
interesse por parte das famílias importantes de Coimbra, refletido
na construção de Jazigos que são autênticas obras de arte. Um dos
mais monumentais de todos é o dos Condes do Ameal, que pela sua
forma e tamanho se destaca.
No âmbito da arquitectura
funerária o Cemitério da Conchada teve um papel importante na
definição de um estilo próprio nesta região, pelos importantes
registos de pedra e ferro que guarda no seu interior. Das oficinas
da Cidade saíram inúmeros trabalhos de influências neomanuelinas e
neorenascentistas, marcando a corrente e linguagem revivalista
surgida na época em Portugal. Para isso, muito terá contribuído,
também, o canteiro e escultor João Machado, através da sua
obra.
Em
redor
Na zona envolvente ao
cemitério situa-se o Bairro da Conchada, um bairro social que foi,
juntamente com outros, importante na sua época para o
desenvolvimento da cidade de Coimbra. Estes bairros sociais
partiram da implementação de uma política Salazarista de construção
de bairros sociais de renda económica ou resolúvel. Efectivamente
dentro da filosofia do Estado Novo correspondia a construção de
bairros de moradias unifamiliares de 1 ou 2 pisos, todas com um
pequeno logradouro, isoladas, geminadas ou em banda, destinadas a
vários estratos sociais.

A cache situa-se no exterior
do cemitério e trata-se de container micro que contêm logbook e
caneta.
Dependendo da hora a que
fizerem esta cache, poderá ser necessário ter cuidado com os
muggles.
Notem que para encontrar a cache não precisam de abandonar o
passeio - se um local vos parece demasiado sombrio ou desagradável,
provávelmente não é necessário lá ir.

The
Cemetery
The Conchada cemetery is
located at Quinta da Conchada, on land formerly owned by Joaquim
Inácio de Miranda Pio.
After the Law of 1835 and
37 in which burials outside of cemeteries are prohibited, the first
municipal cemetery was built at Conchada, opened on 1 October 1860
by the then Mayor Dr. Raimundo Venâncio Rodrigues.
After a difficult and
contentious process that lasted for half a century, the Conchada
cemetery, especially in the decades of 70 and 80 of the XIX
century, saw the growing of the interest of important families of
Coimbra, reflected in the construction of Graves that are truly
works of art. One of the most monumental of all is the one for the
Counts of Ameal, which stands out because of their shape and
size.
As a part of the funerary
architecture, the Conchada Cemetery played an important role in
defining this region's own style, by the important records made in
stone and iron that are kept inside. From the city's workshops came
out numerous works and influences, marking the revivalist current
and language that emerged at the time in Portugal. Also contributed
to it the stonemason and sculptor John Machado, through his
work.
Surroundings
In the area surrounding
the cemetery is located the Conchada Neighborhood, a housing estate
which was, along with others, important during its time to the
developing of the city of Coimbra. These housing estates were built
after the implementation of the Salazar's policy of building social
or economic neighborhoods. Indeed within the philosophy of the New
State was the building of neighborhoods of single-family houses
with one or two floors, each with a small garden, built as single,
twin or in band, for various social strata.

and pen.
Depending on the time of
the day you choose to do this cache, you may need to be aware of
muggles.
Please note that in order to find the cache you don't need to leave
the sidewalk - if a place seems too shady or unpleasant, you
probably don't need to go there.
