Antico ponte romano sul Naviglio Interno, ora interrato ma visitabile
Il Ponte San Lorenzo è l'unico interamente conservato fra gli antichi cinque ponti di Padova romana. Notizie del ritrovamento del Ponte risalgono al Settecento, ma è solo con gli scavi attuati nel 1938 per restaurare Palazzo Bo, che venne totalmente riscoperto e oggi, dopo duemila anni di distruzioni e inondazioni, se ne possono ancora ammirare i solidi e antichi resti.
Attualmente è raggiungibile attraverso un sottopassaggio vicino al monumento di Antenore, il mitico fondatore di Padova. La struttura, risalente al decennio 40 - 30 a. C., è impostata su due pile e articolata in tre arcate. Essa conserva ancora l'iscrizione con i nomi dei magistrati che ne seguirono la realizzazione. Un tempo il Naviglio Interno, detto anticamente Flumesello, passava sotto il Ponte di S. Lorenzo. Il Ponte deve il suo nome alla chiesa di S. Lorenzo che fu soppressa nel 1809 per volontà napoleonica, alla quale era addossata la Tomba di Antenore.
Il ponte fu anche chiamato Ponte S. Stefano per un attiguo monastero o dell'Università che qui accanto era sorta. Oggi al posto del Ponte e del Naviglio Interno, interrati negli anni '60, troviamo le attuali Riviera Tito Livio e Riviera Ponti Romani, quest'ultima così denominata per i resti possenti e resistenti di cinque antichi ponti romani, edificati con grosse pietre di Costozza squadrate a scalpello, di solida ed elegante struttura.
State attenti a numerosi muggles nella zona ed al mimetismo. Non fatevi vedere. Portatevi una penna per il Logbook.

Ancient Roman bridge on the Naviglio Inside, now underground but visitable
The Ponte San Lorenzo is the only entirely preserved among the ancient five bridges of Padua Roman. News of the discovery of the bridge date back to the eighteenth century, but it is only with the excavations carried out in 1938 to restore Palazzo Bo, who was totally rediscovered and today, after two thousand years of destruction and flooding, they can still admire the solid and ancient ruins.
Currently it is accessed via a tunnel near the monument of Antenor, the legendary founder of Padua. The structure, built in the decade 40-30 a. C., is set on two batteries and divided into three arches. It still retains the inscription with the names of the judges who followed the realization. Once the canal Interior, said in ancient Flumesello, passing under the Bridge of S. Lorenzo. The Ponte owes its name to the church of San Lorenzo which was suppressed in 1809 by the will of Napoleon, which was leaning against the Tomb of Antenor.
The bridge was also called Ponte S. Stefano for an adjoining monastery or university that was opposite sort. Today, instead of the Bridge and the Naviglio Inside, buried in the 60s, we find the current Riviera Tito Livio and Riviera Bridges Romans, the latter so named for the remains strong and resistant to five ancient Roman bridges, built with large stones Costozza squared chisel, solid and elegant structure.
