Geocache Description:

The Fourth Sussex
CITO Event
Seven Sisters
Country Park

The Rangers of one of the most stunningly scenic areas in the country, namely Seven Sisters Country Park have asked if Geocachers will again this year help to collect and remove the accumulated rubbish from the area.

On your behalf I have said we would be delighted!!.

This CITO event is being organized in conjunction with, and under the control of the Rangers and Volunteers of the Seven Sisters Country Park

All who participate are invited to a light lunch which is being provided and organised by the Volunteers and Rangers.

Itinerary:-
09:30 Meet at the SSCP car park (N 50° 46.482 E 000° 09.147)
parking will be free for participants for the day, Just tell them you are with the CITO Event.

09:45 A short briefing by the Rangers on the 'Health and Safety' aspects of the event.

10:00 We will be split into groups of about 10 people and each group will be allocated a Ranger or Volunteer and an area to "litter pick". (I'm sure these Rangers and Volunteers will point out things of interest or answer questions on the various birds that you will see)

12.30 Finish our good work, admire what we have achieved and we will be transported to the Rangers Headquarters where a light lunch will be provided for all who have assisted.

Important things :-
I do need to have some idea of numbers to allow the SSCP staff to arrange for sufficient Rangers and Volunteers to be on duty and numbers for lunch, so please, when posting your 'intention to attend' post how many people are in your party.

Could you please log your intentions by 8 May 2011 to enable final arangement to be made.
Thanks.

(Dogs and Children are welcome but they will need to be kept under control)

What do you need to bring?
Stout walking or Wellington boots, strong gardening gloves and normal walking in the countryside clothing, drinks etc.

General Information :-
Rubbish containers and transportation of filled bags will be done by SSCP staff.

I suggest you keep this cache page on your "watchlist" so I will be able to keep you all informed quickly of any other information if necessary.

This will be the Fourth Year for us to to show what sort of people we Geocachers are and to contribute something to a beautiful area of Sussex.

If you have any questions please e-mail me via my geocaching profile.

General Advice:
Do not work alone and keep a first aid kit handy (already provided for the day).
Always wear gloves and use litter pickers.
Do not lift anything heavy without help.
Use the right tool for the job.
Keep the work area tidy and safe.
If you do not like the look of it, do not touch it!

Health and Safety
Hazard – Person/s at risk – Risk level – Action required by individuals or trust.

• Cuts to fingers from handling broken glass or sharp metal – Volunteers – Low – Wear gloves at all times. Ensure a first aid kit is on site at all times.
• Slipping on banking or slopes, particularly in wet weather – Volunteers – Low – Ensure no volunteers work alone, do not climb up steep banks.
• Lifting injuries, backs – Volunteers – Medium – Work as a team when faced with heavy objects.
• Tripping over tools or cleared rubbish - Volunteers & the public – Low – Ensure all volunteers know how to use and store tools safely. Designate a tool store area away from the walkway. Rubbish cleared from the river should be put in a safe place where it does not block the walkway or access for other volunteers.

Please note :- If you take part in this activity, you do so at entirely your own risk, and the Seven Sisters Country Park will not be held responsible for any injuries.
