From 1915 till 1917, during World War I, the Central Power had dislocated its forces in this place. Daugava was as natural front line between both sides, on the left bank was the Central Power, on the right one – Allies. It seems that this fortification-bunker was built in early summer of 1915, so it’s almost a hundred years old. Bunker is in middle of the fortification, surrounded by two lines of entrenchments. In the nearest area you will probably find some other traces from those battles.
Please be careful inside, as a heavier action may cause a landslide.
Don’t walk on the bunker's roof, thus, helping to preserve this unique building. Place is from the last century... respect the history.
