Prairie au bord du Lez
Prades le Lez, son nom vient de ''prairie'' et de la rivière Lez. Des traces de premiers occupants au néolithique ont été trouvées au Puech Marty et ses alentours. Une villa gallo-romaine au lieu-dit Mas de Prades profitait des eaux de la source du Lez toute proche. Dès la fin du VIIIème siècle la ville se développa, au XIIème l'église San Jacobi de Pratis fut construite puis au XIIIème siècle des fortifications, des remparts furent ajoutés pour protéger la ville des bandes de routiers (brigands itinérants).
De nombreux souterrains parcourent le sous-sol de l'ancien village.
L'église, St Jacques le Majeur, détruite de nombreuses fois, par les guerres de religions, révolution... à été reconstruite au XIXème siècle dans sa configuration actuelle. Seuls les soubassements et une partie du clocher sont du XIIème siècle.
Le château de Restinclières construit au XIVème siècle appartient aujourd'hui au Conseil Général de l'Hérault, la maison de l'environnement y est installé. La géocache de Philovélo GC1B9KZ vous permet d'y faire une visite complète et en vous promenant le long du Lez au niveau de l'ancien pont vous apercevrez peut-être le poisson endémique de ce lieu Le Chabot du Lez.
La cache (à l'écart du vieux village)a malgré tout pour but de vous faire visiter le vieux village, invisible quant on passe sur la route principale. Prenez le temps de déambuler et d'observer les restes du rempart et les portes 'Ouest' et 'Est'.

Prades le Lez, its name comes from "meadow" and from the river Lez. First occupiers' tracks in the Neolithic were found in Puech Marty and its surroundings. A Gallo-Roman villa in the locality Mas of Prades took advantage of waters of the quite close spring of Lez. From the end of the VIIIth century the city developed, in the XIIth the church San Jacobi of Pratis was built then in the XIIIth century of the fortifications, ramparts were added to protect the city of the bands of itinerant bandits.
Several underground still exist in the basement of this old village.
The church, St Jacques le Majeur, destroyed many times, during the religious war, revolution ... was reconstructed in the nineteenth century in its current configuration. Only the basement and part of the tower are of the XIIth century.
The castle of Restinclières built in the XIVth century belongs to the Hérault General Council today, the house of the environment is installed there. The geocache of Philovélo GC1B9KZ allows you to do a complete visit and by walking you along Lez at the level of the ancient bridge you will perceive maybe the endemic fish of this place Le Chabot du Lez
The cache (away from the old village) has nevertheless aim to show you the old village, invisible as we go to the main road. Take time to roam and to observe the rests of the rampart and the East and West doors.
