Der Weg zum Cache-Versteck führt von Vestenpoppen in Richtung Saalmühle und kann leicht mit einem Kinderwagen, mit dem Fahrrad oder zu Fuß zurückgelegt werden. The farm track to the cache hiding-place goes from Vestenpoppen and leads in direction to the mill "Saalmühle". The way can be managed easily with a baby buggy, by bicycle or by feet.
[DE:] Alternativ dazu ist der Cache auch über einen Wanderweg von der Saalmühle kommend erreichbar (dieser ist nur bedingt mit Kinderwagen zu empfehlen - Stufen und steil ansteigender Weg). Zum Cache: Gehe von Vestenpoppen in Richtung Saalmühle bis du zu einem Marterl kommst. Dort kannst du dich auf zwei Bankerl ausruhen, die schöne Aussicht auf unsere Heimatregion Wohlfahrts und Vestenpoppen genießen - sowie den Cache suchen :-) Es ist nicht empfohlen bis zum Cache mit dem Auto zu fahren; es gibt keinen dezidierten Parkplatz, Auto kann am Anfang des Feldweges in Vestenpoppen am Wegrand für die Dauer der Cachesuche geparkt werden. Dieser Cache wurde am 24.8.2012 von Xenon_76 & Cat_67 übernommen sowie am 25.8.2012 wieder aktiviert. Die Dose ist eine 300 ml Lock-Lock-Box (15 x 10 x 5 cm), geignet für kleine Trades und natürlich auch Geocoins und Travelbugs. Bleistift und Logbuch bitte NICHT entfernen! Bitte scheut euch nicht, Mängel am Cache zu posten, wir wohnen in unmittelbarer Nähe - schnelle Wartung ist daher kein Problem. Der Cache freut sich schon auf regen Besuch, wir wünschen viel Spaß beim Geocachen :-) Ideal zu Kombinieren mit GC2776P Königsfelsen - Pride Rock und GC27A4R Mühlen und Höfe. Geschichtliches zu Vestenpoppen: 1303 verkaufte Cholhard von den Dietreichs Gülten und einen Hof zu Poppen dem Heinrich Perharzdorfer. Der Name Vestenpoppen ist aus zwei Teilen zusammengesetzt: "Vesten" bezeiht sich auf einer Burg, "Poppen" ist auf den ahd. Personennamen Poppo zurückzuführen. 1321 ist ein Perichtolt von Poppen urkundlich erwähnt. Um 1395 belehnte Herzog Albrecht IV. den Hans Neidegger und seine Söhne und Töchter mit der Feste Poppen. 1395 leistete Hans der Dachsner dem Pitzlin dem Pillung Frondienste in Poppen. Um 1430 verkauften Stephan der Eyczinger von Wisenrewtt (am Loschberg) und Martin der Eyczinger von Höflein das Haus zu Poppen mit Zubehör Kaspar dem Tannberg. Um 1455 gab König Ladislaus die öde (zerstörte) Feste Poppen dem Erhard Zach, der sie geerbt hatte, zu Lehen. 1480 kam Poppen an die Brüder Christoph, Sigmund und Hans Streun. Diese besaßen auch Hirschbach, mit dem Poppen bis 1779 vereinigt blieb. 1505 wird ein Hans Pernasdorffer zum Poppen erwähnt. 1569 hatte das Gut Vestenpoppen sein eigenes Landgericht. 1584 besaß Gabriel Streun auf Schwarzenau und Hirschbach in Klein-Poppen 18 Untertanen. Im Jahre 1671 ließ Ladislaus Graf von Herberstein auf Hirschbach eine Brücke über die Thaya erbauen. 1779 verkaufte Johann Julius Graf Veterani auf Hirschbach zwei Höfe, vier Hofstätten und zwölf Lehen zu Poppen, die Fischerei in der Thaya und das Landgericht über das Gut dem Nikolaus Grafen von Falkenhayn, der sie zum Gute Schrems zog. Am Abhang des Hügels, auf dem sich einst die Feste befunden hatte, wurde ein Schafhof errichte, weshalb der Hügel die Bezeichnung Schafberg erhielt. 1824 richtete ein Brand in Wohlfahrts und Vestenpoppen einen Schaden von über 25.000 Gulden an. 1846 erbaute die Gemeinde anstelle einer Holzkapelle eine neue Betkapelle mit Turm. 1883 vernichtete ein Brand 15 Häuser und auch Dach und Turm der Betkapelle, die bald wiederhergestellt wurde. Follow the way from Vestenpoppen in direction to the mill "Saalmühle" until you come by a wayside cross. There you can relax while sitting on one of the two benches, enjoy the beautiful view to our homeregion Wohlfahrts and Vestenpoppen - as well as seeking for the cache. It is not recommended to go by car to the cache; there is no defined parking place, but car can be parked aside at the beginning of the farm track for the period of cache seeking.
