Staring Lake Park is west of Hwy 212/Flying Cloud Drive on Pioneer Trail (County Rd 1) across from Flying Cloud Airport. You can either take 212 west from Hwy 494 or go west on Pioneer Trail from Hwy 169. There is a 2.5 mile paved hiking/biking trail around the lake which is one-way for bikers but 2-way for hikers. Trail is mostly wooded with views of the water.
The cache is an ammo can near the intersection of a paved and turf trail, nearest access is through the "dog park" entrance but also a nice walk from other park entrance such as the Eden Prairie Outdoor Center or the playground / amplitheater entrance.
This cache was adopted by dornole in 2007 and registered w/EP Parks to keep it going, as it is one of the oldest still active caches in our area (2001) and was also my very first find, back in 2003. Caching was a lot different back then! Enjoy!!
