Villan koulu
Villan koulu on perustettu 1869 ja se on Pohjanmaan vanhin, yhä toiminnassa oleva, ruotsinkielistä perusopetusta antava koulu. Uusi, isompi koulurakennus rakennettiin 1950 luvulla vastapäätä vanhaa koulua. Nykyinen koulurakennus peruskorjattiin ja laajennettiin 2010-2011. Peruskorjauksen ja laajennuksen ajan Villan koulu toimi Kirkonmäen koulun viereen pystytetyssä väliaikaisessa parakkikoulussa sekä kaksi ylintä luokkaa kaupungin keskustassa, Donnerin koulussa. Koulu pääsi muuttamaan takaisin uusittuihin tiloihin Joulukuussa 2011.

Vanha koulurakennus on edelleen olemassa uuden vieressä ja siellä on kaupungin tukemaa harrastustoimintaa.

Matematiikka
Matematiikka on koko ihmiskuntaa yhdistävä kieli, jonka avulla voidaan selittää lähestulkoon kaikki maailmankaikkeuden ilmiöt ja tapahtumat . Tämän universaalin kielen kielioppi (säännöt) ja sanasto (käsitteet) on määritelty äärimmäisen tarkkaan, mikä mahdollistaa asioiden ilmaisemisen täysin yksiselitteisesti, kun oletetaan loogisten rakenteiden pysyvän muuttumattominna.

Lukujen välisissä matemaattisissa suhteissa on äärettömän paljon mielenkiintoisia ilmiöitä ja seuraava on eräs niistä:

Jos kirjoitat kaverisi kanssa paperille vuorotellen viisi kpl 5-numeroista lukua, niin tiedät etukäteen mikä on noiden lukujen summa ennen, ennen kun kaverisi ehtii edes ajatella mitkä luvut hän aikoo kirjoittaa!

Miten se on mahdollista?

Kirjoita paperilapulle mikä tahansa viisinumeroinen luku (a b c d e). Anna sitten lappu kaverillesi ja pyydä, että hän kirjoittaa sen alle jonkun toisen 5-numeroisen luvun (f g h i j).

Samalla kun hän tekee tämän, kirjoita toiselle paperilapulle uudelleen äskeinen lukusi (a b c d e) ja tee siihen seuraavat muutokset: Kirjoita numero x luvun ensimmäisen numeron eteen. Sen jälkeen vähennä luvusta (x a b c d e) numero x. Toisin sanoen: x a b c d e - x. Laita tämä paperilappu nyt pöydälle nurinpäin, äläkä tietenkään kerro kaverillesi minkä luvun kirjoitit.

Kun kaverisi ojentaa sinulle takaisin paperilapun, jolle hän on kirjoittanut oman haluamansa luvun sinun alkuperäisen lukusi alle, kirjoita sen jälkeen hänen lukunsa alle kolmas 5-numeroinen luku
(k l m n o). Valitse tämän luvun numerot niin, että kun sen numerot yksitellen lisätään ylempänä olevan luvun numeroihin, summa on jokaisen kohdalla y. Eli f + k = y, g + l = y jne...

Ojenna paperi nyt uudelleen kaverillesi ja pyydä häntä kirjoittamaan toinen 5-numeroinen luku
(p q r s t) äsken kirjoittamasi alle. Lopuksi lisää vielä kerran oman lukusi (u v w z ä) alle valiten numerot jälleen niin, että kun tämän luvun numerot yksitellen lisätään ylempänä olevan luvun numeroihin, summa on taas jokaisen kohdalla y. Eli p + u = y, q + v = y jne...

Pyydä sitten kaveriasi laskemaan näiden lukujen summa.

Yhteenlaskun jälkeen, pyydä lopuksi häntä kääntämään nurinpäin asettamasi paperilappu ja kertomaan mikä luku siihen on kirjoitettu.

Yllätys, yllätys paperilapussa on sama luku, mitä on yhteenlaskun lopputulos !

Saadaksesi kätkön koordinaatit:

1. Laske kuinka monta kirjainta on muistokivessä olevan tekstin alimmalla rivillä. Lisää kirjainten lukumäärä alla olevan LÄHTÖPISTEEN leveyskoordinaatin minuuttien desimaaliosaan.

2. Ratkaise mitkä ovat numerotrikin x:n ja y:n lukuarvot, sekä kerro ne keskenään. Lisää kertolaskun tulo alla olevan ***LÄHTÖPISTEEN*** pituuskoordinaatin minuuttien desimaaliosaan.

Jos haluat tarkistaa oletko ratkaissut x:n ja y:n arvot oikein, syötä korjattu pituusaste oheiseen Checkeriin. Käytä Checkerissä leveysasteena N 000° 00,000'. Samalla kun Checkeri näyttää vihreää valoa, niin saat tietää minkä kokoista purkkia etsit sekä pari vinkkiä.

Villa school
Villa school is established in the 1869 and it is the oldest one in the province of Ostrobotnia , which gives basic education in Swedish language. New, bigger school building completed opposite of the old one in the 1950’s. The present building has been renovated and enlarged 2010-2011. Restoration has been completed in December 2011.

The old school building still exists beside of the new one and there are hobby and free time activities sponsored by the Town of Kokkola.

Mathematics
Mathematics is an abstract science based on deductive argumentation, which studies among other things quantities, structures, changes and transitions as well as spaces. Mathematics is used as an universal language to describe physical and conceptual relationships between mathematical quantities, which grammar (rules and laws) and vocabulary (conceptual system) is determined extremely strictly. This enables presenting the facts unambiguously when the logical structures are expected to be constant.

Mathematical relationships between different numbers comprise myriads of interesting phenomenons and the following is one of them:

If you write with your friend in turns five pcs 5-digits numbers you will know sum of total before your friend has written any number!

How it is possible?

Write on a piece of paper any 5-digits number (a b c d e). Then give the paper to your frind and ask her/him to write under your number another optional 5-digits number (f g h i j).

Simultaneously while she/he is doing that write to another paper again that same number (a b c d e). Then do certain changes to that number. Write digit x in front of the (a b c d e) and subtract x from
(x a b c d e). In other words: (x a b c d e - x). Then put this paper upside down on the table.

After your friend has handed over the paper where she/he has written the second 5-digits number under yours write now the third 5-digits number (k l m n o). Choose that number in the following way: when you add it digit by digit with previous one the sums of each pair is y. Eg. f + k = y, g + l = y and so on…

Give the paper back to your friend asking her/him to write another optional 5-digits number
(p q r s t) under the one you just wrote. Then write your own 5-digits number to the bottom of the list. Choose again number in such manner that when you add it digit by digit with previous one the sum of each pair is y. Eg. p + u = y, q + v = y and so on…

Then ask your friend to tot up all 5-digits numbers:

Finally ask her/him to turn over the paper, which have been on the table upside down...

Surprise, surprise the number what you have written on it in the beginning is exact the same as the sum your friend has just calculated!

The coordinates in the cache description lead to the memorial statue in opposite of old school building.To get cache coordinates:

1. Count how many letters are in the lowest row in the text of the memorial statue. Add the sum to the decimal part of minutes of latitude in given START POINT below.

2. Solve numerical values of x and y in mathematical trick of the cache description. Multiply those numerical values together and add the product to the decimal part of minutes of longitude in given ***START POINT*** below.

If you want to check your values for x and y, type corrected longitude to the attached Checker. Use latitude N 000 00,000’ for Checker. When Checker flashes green light you will get to know which size of cache is in question and two additional hints.
