En la actualidad dentro del término municipal de Vigo sólo poseemos dos ejemplares de puentes medievales, de otros que posiblemente poseyó pero que el tiempo ha borrado su huella. Son los puentes de BALAIDOS y el de SARDOMA
El primero se encuentra, cerca del estadio de fútbol de Balaídos, y su cauce natural se halla en la actualidad a unos 10 metros hacia el Norte, pues fue desviado en la década de los 7o del siglo pasado.
La longitud es de unos 21,50 metros, presentando una forma algo apuntada o abombada hacia su parte central. Por documentaciones anteriores sabemos que poseía hasta unos 60 metros de calzada conservada hacia mediados del siglo XX. Su anchura podemos situarla hacia los 3,5 metros y su altura máxima en unos 4 metros. Posee sólo un arco de medio punto de unos 5,5 metros de longitud máxima y 2 vanos de descarga, que sabemos que eran dos más en la citada época.

Son interesantes y muy bien conservados sus 4 tajamares de forma triangular y que podemos observar a ambos lados del puente, circunstancia ésta, nada frecuente en este tipo de construcción. Hoy podemos ver también, al inicio de los dos extremos conservados del puente, 4 piedras verticales, de forma cónica-truncada, de un metro de alto y que por documentos de períodos anteriores sabemos que poseía más. De hecho cuando se realizó una limpieza en 1987 de este espacio, por parte del Departamento de Arqueología del Museo Municipal "Quiñones de León", se rescataron varias piedras más de esas características y que fueron llevadas al mencionado museo.
Algunos historiadores llegaron a considerar este puente como romano, identificando algunas inscripciones en algunas de los bloques que forman esta estructura, pero sin descartar que pudo tener su origen en un anterior puente romano, lo que observamos en la actualidad corresponde en su totalidad a una época claramente medieval.

EL CACHE

NO se encuentra situado en el puente pero ATENCIÓN tener mucho cuidado en depositarlo de la misma forma como lo habeis cogido, ser pacientes hay mucha gente en los alrededores e incluso en los balcones de los pisos.
