Quiet road now vehicles are banned, in winter, possibly open to light vehicles - cars in summer or when its very dry
The Bervie Braes once the main route out of Stonehaven is now a quiet path for walkers and cyclists, the recent landslides making the road a wee bit unstable for vehicles.
A useless fact about Stonehaven, Travelling out of Stonehaven on the stagecoach, first class travellers were afforded the luxury of staying in the coach to the top of the Bervie Braes, 2nd class passengers had to walk, but 3rd class had to “get doon an’ shove (Highways and Byways around Stonehaven by Archibald Watt).
A walk to the view point further up the hill will take you to another cache GC1C66H
and one of the best views of Stonehaven.
