A Fajã
A fajã da Rocha da Relva,
localizada na freguesia da Relva, ilha de São Miguel, não tem luz
eléctrica, a água só foi canalizada em Julho de 2003 e a descida só
pode ser feita a pé ou de burro, demorando sensivelmente meia
hora.
Nos pequenos socalcos murados com basalto tem sido cultivado, ao
longo dos séculos, árvores de fruta e vinha para consumo dos
proprietários.
Percurso
pedestre
Este percurso
inicia-se e termina junto ao parque de estacionamento utilizado
pelos visitantes da Rocha da Relva e tem a duração de cerca de
2h30m. A descida para a Rocha de Relva realiza-se através um
estreito atalho escavado na falésia. É um percurso fácil de
realizar, não apresentando situações de maior
risco.
Pouco tempo depois do
início do percurso chegará a uma bifurcação, onde poderá optar por
virar à esquerda para visitar primeiro a Rocha do Cascalho, antes
de continuar a descida para a Rocha da
Relva.
Durante o resto da
descida não existe qualquer caminho sem ser o principal que o
levará à Rocha de Relva, uma fajã detrítica como existem muitas na
Ilha de São Jorge mas uma das poucas de São Miguel. Já na Fajã
poderá observar o grande número de adegas existentes, consequência
do microclima que favorece o desenvolvimento das vinhas, assim como
figueiras e hortícolas. Chama-se a atenção aos pedestrianistas para
não apanharem frutas ou hortícolas durante a
caminhada.
O regresso realiza-se pelo
mesmo caminho.
A cache
Não é
necessário efectuar o percurso pedestre para encontrar a cache.
Esta, quando localizada, deverá ser manuseada com cuidado e deixada
tal como foi encontrada. Não deverão ser publicadas fotos da cache
para não tirar o efeito
surpresa.

The Cliff
The cliff of the Rocha da Relva
(Grass Rock), located in Relva county, Island of São Miguel, has no
electric light, water was only used in pipes after July 2003 and
the descent can only be made on foot or on a donkey, which takes
approximately half an hour.
All over the cliff rocky walls, you will find some small pieces of
land surrounded by brick walls where the owner planted fruit trees
and vine
Walking trail
This walking trail starts and ends on
the car park used by the people visiting this tourist site, and it
takes around two and a half hours to do. The descent to the Rocha
da Relva (Grass rock) is made through a narrow dirt road engraved
in the rock itself. It is an easy trail and it does not present
major risk situations.
Right after the beginning of the
walking trail you will reach a crossroad where you have an option
of turning left to visit the Rocha do Cascalho first before
continuing the descent to the Rocha da
Relva.
During the rest of the descent there
is no other way besides the main dirt road which will lead you to
the Rocha de Relva, a unique cliff in the island of S. Miguel, very
similar to the ones found in the island of S. Jorge. In the end of
the descent you will find many wine cellars due to the existing
micro climate region which is good for growing vines. A request is
made to all who wish to make this trail: please do not pick up any
fruit or vegetables on your way down.
The way back is made through the same
path.
The
cache
It is not necessary to make the entire
walking trail to find this cache. When you find it please handle it
with care and leave it exactly how you found it. No photos should
be published in order not to spoil the surprise.
