RTH29 Big Box Bonus! Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

SimplySolly: Hello watcher. Thanks for your interest.

I picked this box up on the way back to the car as the heavens opened and I had to find out how waterproof my new jacket is. Pretty good, it turns out, but my trousers were soaked through and the notes in my pocket began to disolve, which made finding other caches today that bit trickier...

This is still a beautiful area (especially at this time of year, and time of day - if not this weather!) so may yet get another series. Thanks for all your logs from solly and I, and sorry to those who didn't find this bonus. TCLN [;)]

Geocache Description:

This is the BONUS CACHE for the Round the Horne series and is
NOT at the above co-ords.

Round the Horne was a classic radio comedy series which ran from
1965 until 1968. Have a look at RTH01 for more information. Like
the writers, SimplySolly enjoy the odd double entendre...

Having gathered the numbers as you go to find the bonus cache,
you should locate it without too much trouble. This ring is best done
on foot rather than cycle as most of it is footpath. Some mud in
poor conditions but mostly ok. Short section of road to walk, and
two to cross. Approx 8Km/5miles/3-4hours to finish.

The Big Box Bonus can be found at:

N51 C(B-N+M).(A+O)(F-D)(B-P)

W00G i(R+H).(Q-J)(P-E+C)(L-K)

Letters A to J each appear twice on the ring, giving you a better chance to get them. K to R only appear once each. If you miss one, the total of K to R, when added together, is 30. So you should be able to work out what you missed.

Enjoy!

First there was Beyond Our Ken. Hello Rodney ... Hello Charles. I think the answer lies in the soil.

But this was followed by the brilliant Round the Horne with Charles and Fiona, Dr Chu N Ginsberg MA (failed), Rambling Syd Rumpo, J. Peasemold Gruntfuttock and, of course, the immortals Julian and Sandy

Hello, I'm Julian and this is my friend Sandy...

When solly (the dr bit came later) listened to this radio show 45 years ago as a teenager, he thought it was the funniest thing on radio. When he listens to it now, he realises that he couldn't possibly have understood most of it. We wonder how they got away with some of the lines. Of course, you have to have a mind attuned to the double entendre that was the specialty of the show, but ... well. Really. I mean. And at the time, homosexuality was illegal!

Listen to an episode. Or several episodes (Google will find more for you). You might need some help to translate the Polari.

So this ring of caches celebrates the bold, bona Round the Horne. Get your lallies in your strides, get your batts on and troll round our bijou cachettes, and vada the dolly eek of the Pishill countryside. Mince your thews, get your lallie tappers on the tober, get your luppers on our boxes and blag the bona clobber.
