Geocache Description:

10 years ago, on May 1st, President Clinton authorized the turning off of Selective Availability in Satellite positioning signals. At midnight on May 2nd, 2000 twenty-four satellites around the globe processed their new orders, and instantly the accuracy of GPS technology improved tenfold.
2 days later Dave Ulmer hid a box in Beaver Creek, OR, posted it's coordinates on a Usenet forum and The GPS Stash Hunt was born.

When: Saturday, May 1st, Noon to 5 (or later!)
Where: Greenough Park Pavilion

The first cache was placed in Montana on Feb 25, 2001. It was called the 1st Montana Cache (GC37F) and was just outside of Alberton, MT. The current oldest cache in Montana is Fairweather (GC492), placed by Don and Nancy Wilson on March 14, 2001.

This event is to celebrate Geocaching and all the fun aspects of the activity. We think a potluck will be the perfect way to do this as it is a perfect metaphor for geocaching. Bring some food, Eat some food, Tell some stories, Meet cachers from all aspects of the game! We are inviting all geocachers to attend this event- the old, the new, and all the generations in-between!

Lets take some photos of every group of geocachers we can, by year joined. It would be really cool to have someone who joined ever year since 2000 attend this event and get their photo taken for the page. So if you know someone who used to cache but hasn't been too active, invite them to come out and play to celebrate 10 Years!

Potluck- please post in your will attend log what you are bringing. Dean and Jen still have quite a few paper goods left from the last potluck event so we probably won't need any paper plates, napkins or paper cups. We will update this page as folks post what they can bring so everyone can easily see a list of what is already on the table.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone! You do not need to be a MOOG member to attend, just a cacher!
