12 Seconds that Changed the World Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

rvstauff: I can't believe this is over 7 years old.

Over 100 finds, and 20+ favorites.

Time to go. The neighboring caches, needed for puzzle solution are gone. The reference play set at posted GZ is gone. The old tree the pen was hanging on has fallen.

Time to free up some space in Idlewild.

I am sad to let go of this one.

Geocache Description:

Cache is not at listed coordinates. Read more to find out how to find it!

I swore I would NEVER hide an unknown/puzzle cache or an evil, evil nano in the woods.

I lied.

This is a combination of experiences I have had caching at Idlewild Park - one part Tree Whisperer, one part That's Just Wrong, and one part of the Unknown.... I hope you enjoy.

I just love this park for geocaching. So many cool caches and great experiences. One of my memorable experiences was with the cache "Sialis" - on a DNF revenge search, I found the cache but realized I forgot my pen. I marked the log by notching the sides of the log instead of signing. I later got a message from TermiteHunter (the cache owner) suggesting that I should have pulled a stinger from a nearby yellow jacket and signed the log in blood (ouch) and he was considering deleting my find as the log was not signed!!!! He was kidding.... I think!

Anyway, back to THIS cache -

Where is it? The cache is located approximately the historic distance that was covered in 12 seconds (the 12 seconds that changed the world, of course) from the listed coordinates. The cache is just in the woods a little, and muggles may be about - be as stealthy as possible. "The direction?" you may ask... you can figure that out! This is a puzzle/unknown cache, after all!

What is it? The cache is a nano. The log is real small. Please write your name small - no date is necessary if you can't fit it in the box.

A hint? Sure. I left a pen at Ground Zero. I don't want any of you to have to sign the log in blood if you forget your pen after a long but victorious search! If you find the pen, don't give up. The cache is close by.

After finding the cache, take a look back at where the "bogus" coordinates are. The distance from where you are standing to just before the small playset is the historic distance covered those many years ago - in 12 seconds. How things have changed!

Congrats to "Lucky Llamas" who "Changed the World" FIRST - their first ever FTF!!!!
