Geocache Description:

Geisel Library will be closed from Saturday, 12/23/23 through Tuesday, 1/2/24 for winter break.

This is a paper-only cache located in the UCSD Geisel Library in La Jolla, CA.

Visitor parking information. Only park in marked visitor spaces (there are some on the top floor of the parking structure nearby on Hopkins & Voigt). DO NOT park on Hopkins Lane right by the library -- those spots are for faculty permit holders only.

Coordinates given are for the entrance of the library. GPS signals do not penetrate the enormous concrete structure, so the rest of the instructions are by word of mouth.

Enter the library through the electric sliding doors. The elevators are ahead and slightly to the left. Don't worry - the library is free for all to use.

Go to the 6th floor. When you exit the elevator, turn left. You'll be heading straight for the "Oversize" shelves. When you're standing in front of the Oversize section, turn right and go down toward the end of the shelving units -- you're looking for the "EXTRA OVERSIZE" shelves, which are the last two rows. Walk between the last two rows; the book will be on your right, lying flat. See spoiler photos if necessary. It's a bright blue binder and says Seismic Exploration of the Rocky Mountain Region on the cover. The cache is the blue folder inside.

We suggest taking the cache to a nearby desk to peruse the contents (there's a lot of reading material in there!). Please be discreet and respectful of those studying around you; the 6th floor is a QUIET study area.

This cache can only accept paper items or small, thin objects because of obvious size restrictions. We don't recommend leaving travel bugs here because they have a tendency to disappear. We highly encourage writing in the log book (on both sides of the pages, please!); if space is running low, just let us know and we'll add more sheets.

Please put the book and folder back where you found them when you're finished. While you are up there, take a look around at the beautiful scenery.

Thanks to cessna1 for originally placing this cache! -- Kite and Hawkeye
