L'OPPIDUM DE LA GRANEDE

Cette cache fait partie d'une série série de quatre caches qui vous amènera faire une boucle de 2 heures à 2h30 autour de la Granède.
Sur un promontoire avancé du versant Nord du causse du Larzac s'étend l'oppidum de la Granède. Il comporte trois lignes successives de murailles érigées à trois époques distinctes : début de l'âge du bronze(1000 ans avant J.-C.) puis gauloise(1 à 2 siècles avant J.-C.) et enfin Bas-Empire (4e siècle).
Cette place forte stratégique permettait de surveiller vers le Sud, les routes venant du causse et à ses pieds, la cité de Condatomagus (Millau). Elle permettait aussi de contrôler la voie d'accès au plateau du Larzac qui la traversait.
Les fouilles ont mis au jour d'importantes traces d'habitat et les fondations d'un temple romain plus tard transformé en chapelle. Cet oppidum aurait compté jusqu'à 700 âmes.

This hiding place is a part of a serial series of four hiding places which will bring you to make a buckle from 2 am till 2:30 am around Granède.
On an advanced headland of the hillside the North of the "causse" of Larzac extends the oppidum of Granède. Contains three successive lines of bulwarks set up in three different periods : at the beginning of the Bronze Age (1000 years BC) then Gaul(1 in 2 centuries BC) and finally the Late Empire (4th century).
This strategic fortified town allowed to watch southward, roads coming from the limestone plateau and in its feet, the city of Condatomagus (Millau). She also allowed to control the access road to the "causse" of Larzac which crossed it. The searches brought to light important tracks of housing environment and the foundations of a Roman temple later transformed into chapel. This oppidum would have counted up to 700 souls.
