Geocache Description:

OK, I'm driving around in the hills after Saturday's Meet and Greet event in Sturgis, and came across this one spot that just hit me upside the head... WHAM!! This place is just screaming for a cache!! Ever had that feeling? I mean, it's like a cosmic experience. No cache within 528 feet, or a even a quarter of a mile, easy to get to, right along side a road, why not put one here? After all, a smiley is a smiley, right? And we always need more smileys.

So, I started digging around in the bag next to me as I'm still driving the truck, trying to stay on the road, and I find one of those little film canister things that I was meaning to put someplace great. You know, a spot with an awesome view overlooking a canyon, or beside a bubbling brook, or a meadow, or on top of a mountain next to an old rustic log cabin. Someplace with real meaning. Or... a "what seems to be an impossible to solve" puzzle cache. (but really isn't)

Hmmmm... I didn't have any ammo cans or lock n locks with me. Not even a peanut butter jar. No swag either. Nothing! Imagine my shock. I really didn't want to sacrifice this little guy on this one spot, but hey... I guess I'll use it here, it'll do just fine. It might even last a month or two. Oh well, I can always get another film can from the dumpster at the photo lab if this one goes missing. I popped the lid open to verify that there was a log inside, yep... and snapped it back shut.

Slowing the truck just a little under 35 mph, and powering the passenger side window down, I heaved that hummer as far as I could out the window with my right hand. I caught a brief glimpse of it as it went flying out somewhere near the side of the road. Whew. That was good. I should be a pitcher for a major league ball team.

Oops... I forgot to get coordinates. I hate it when I do that. So, I turned around up the road a bit, maybe a quarter mile or so, turned on the GPS, and headed back down the road. Hmmm... now where exactly did I throw that thing? Ahh... this looks like the spot... I hope. Everything looks the same out here anyway. I... think... this... is... it.... yea.... I glanced down at the numbers on the GPS... Got it!! Stopped down the road a couple hundred feet, and wrote the coordinates down from memory on a muddy piece of paper I found on the floor. I tried to add a fudge factor, since the cache was probably fifty feet or so from those coordinates. Gotta take into account the forward motion @ 35mph, temperature, humidity, and the wind drift as well. Do I add or subtract here? Hmmmm... a quick mental calculation and... yea... there! I think that's good enough.

Nice, I thought to myself, smiling. This should be a fun one, as drive-by micros seem to be really popular nowadays all over the country. I'll just bet this get lots of finds too, especially once word gets out about how great it is. If you hide it, they will come! Maybe from as far away as 5 states and 3 Canadian Provinces. Now to drive home and write this thing up to get it published before someone else decides this is a cool area and throws one down too. So I stepped on it, kicked up a little gravel, and headed back to town.

So... anyway. Somewhere out there along side some road, maybe stuck in a bush, or under a log, or in a rock, could even be a tree stump, I don't know for sure because I never went back to look, is a Poor Lonely Film Canister cache waiting to be found and logged. I just hope the coordinates are close or an animal didn't haul it away. Obviously you will need your own pen or pencil. If you do somehow find it, please put it back exactly where it was so others have a fighting chance at it too.

Good luck.
