Les caches « Les fortifs … » vous propose de découvrirent une petite partie du patrimoine militaire du Pays de Langres. En effet, c’est près de 40 ouvrages qui ont été construit pour protéger la ville de Langres. De toutes les tailles : du fort de 52 hectares au simple puits stratégique, ils sont aujourd’hui à 95 % inaccessible car interdit à la visite par leur propriétaire.

Le fort de la Bonnelle est un fort de ceinture. Couvrant 18 hectares, il était chargé de contrôler la route de Dijon ainsi que le plateau de Langres au Sud-Ouest de la citadelle. Fort à cavalier, il offrait deux niveaux de feu ; il était équipé d’un vaste casernement longitudinal à deux niveaux ouvrant sur une vaste cour. Initialement bastionné, il fut profondément modifié après la guerre de 1870 ; afin de rectifier le tracé des fronts de têtes et latéraux, une partie des fossés furent voûtés ! Particularité rare, ces vastes salles servant au stockage sont encore conservées et offrent des volumes inégalés. Le fort de la Bonnelle est l’un des rares ouvrages langrois à avoir engagé un duel d’artillerie avec les troupes prussiennes en novembre 1870.

The Fort of Bonnelle, part of the ring of fortifications (40 military constructions) surrounding Langres. It covers an area of 18 hectares. It was in charge of checking the road of Dijon as well as the “plateau” of Langres in the Southwest of the citadel. It offered two levels of fire ; it was equipped with a vast longitudinal barracks at two levels opening on a vast court. It was profoundly modified after the war of 1870. A part of ditches were bent! Rare peculiarity, these vast rooms being of use to the storage are still preserved and offer unequalled volumes. The fort of Bonnelle is one of the rare fort to have engaged a duel of artillery with the Prussian troops in November, 1870. It was rapidly downgraded at the beginning of the 20th century but has stood the test of time.
