EarthCaches are all around the world and overseen by the Geological Society of America (or as we like to call them Geoaware). As many of you know I love a good EarthCache and I have had the tendency to go off course to grab one. I guess it is just the teacher in me. All EarthCaches are organized by a classification system, which can be found on EarthCache.org and clicking on the EarthCache listings link on the left. The subtype is not necessarily listed on the EarthCache page at Geocaching.com. I will be adding this to my listings soon to help out. For this challenge you must use the subtype that EarthCache.org has the EarthCache listed as. With the new guidelines for EarthCache publishing this list is updated every couple of weeks. If an Earthcache is not listed please contact me and let me know where you think it fits and I will give you the thumbs up or not for the challenge. I know at the time of publishing one of mine is not listed yet, but Geoaware has been contacted to add it.

Rules for logging:

1) Find an EarthCache for each subtype listed above.
2) All past finds are eligible.
3) Create a Bookmark List with your 20 EarthCaches and the EarthCache's subtype.
4) Contact me by posting a note or email, and I will check your bookmark list.

The actual cache itself if a preform tube. It is hidden pretty well to keep muggles from finding it so please replace as found to keep it under the radar. The terrain rating of this cache is that of the actual cache. The difficulty is based on what I think the challenge warrants.

Insight into the difficulty of this challenge.

At the time of posting 14 of the 20 subtypes are currently available in Illinois. Yes EarthCache.org only lists 13 but I have it the highest authority that there is a 14th. ;-) If you can't figure it out you can email me. Four more can be found in Northwest Indiana and the last two in Southeast Wisconsin. These are based on active Earthcaches, not ones that possibly are archived that you might have found. Also they can be from other states just giving some perspective.

I figured why not mix two things that I enjoy while caching, Earthcaches and Challenges. So, good Luck and happy hunting.
