Geocache Description:

The cache is a short distance north of the interesting village of Church Lawford and nearby Kings Newnham. The former was the location for a couple of micro breweries (Judges and Frankton Bagby), but both have now closed. Kings Newnham is the site of a fine 18th century building, Newnham Hall, and a church tower, the remains of St Lawrence’s church. In 1852, six lead-lined coffins were found, containing the remains of Francis, Earl of Chichester and his family’ plus a headless man. You have been warned. The cache is on a footpath, a short distance north, located close a stream / brook which drops down to the nearby River Avon. Maybe the water was used by the breweries?

This is another in a series of caches created by ‘A Coventry Way Association’. The association was formed to promote a long distance footpath, A Coventry Way, and to support local authorities in the path’s maintenance. Our primary aim was to encourage people to discover and use the local countryside. A book of 21 Circular Walks was produced, broadly based on the main walk. Our plan is to set out a series of caches, located on or near each of the 21 walks. See (visit link) for further information.

The cache is a micro, containing just a log. There is very limited parking on the quiet lane, close to the cache, so this can be treated as a cache and dash. Alternatively, if you intend to complete the whole walk, this starts from Wolston at N52 22.735 W001 23.381. It can be done in conjunction with Along The Line Walk 10 cache (GC24E5M).
