A small puzzle cache on our
favourite danish island Fanoe. Have fun! 
Ein kleiner Mystery auf unserer
dänischen Lieblingsinsel Fanoe. Viel Spaß!
Fanø is surrounded by the northsea which is characteristic for the
inhabitants and the island itself. Many sailors live on the island
and up to now there are many monuments attesting the long history
of sailorship of the island which had once the second largest
merchant fleet of Denmark.
The porcelain dogs placed on the windowsills of the tiny thatched
houses which you can see while strolling around on the island are a
proof for the outstanding history of the island.
If the dog-pair – which is also known from England or Frisia
– is positioned with their faces looking to the sea, the host
was not at home but on a deployment. If the dogs look inside of the
house, they can see the host in his livingroom, because he was at
home.
According to local lore, the positioning of the dogs was a sign for
the lovers of the sailors wifes that they can come in for a
„visit“… This story seems very liable in the
light of the large number of children in former times.
The famous dog-pair which is characteristic for the islands‘
history has been made a monument on a very special place on Fanø.
Find that monument and go 40 metres in direction 42° (true north)
to find the cache!
Fanø ist von der Nordsee umgeben, was die Bevölkerung und die Insel
maßgeblich prägt. Es leben viele Seeleute auf der Insel, und bis
heute zeugen viele Sehenswürdigkeiten von der Jahrhundertealten
Seefahrergeschichte mit der einst zweitgrößten Handelsflotte
Dänemarks.
Die Porzellan-Hunde, die man beim Durchstreifen der kleinen
Inselstraßen in den meist mit Reet gedeckten Seefahrerhäuschen
immer wieder sehen kann stellen eine dieser Inselbesonderheiten
dar.
Schaut das auch aus England und Friesland bekannte Hundepaar hinaus
auf das Meer, ist der Hausherr auf einer Seefahrt und nicht zu
Hause, schauen die Hunde in das Innere des Hauses, ist er
daheim.
Der Volksmund hat hierzu eine weitere Geschichte, die angesichts
des damaligen Kinderreichtums der Schifferfamilien nicht abwegig
erscheint:
Schauten die Hunde hinaus, war dies ein Zeichen für die Liebhaber
der Seefahrerfrauen, dass die Luft rein war für einen
„Hausbesuch“ …
Die berühmten, für die Insel so charakteristischen Hunde stehen
inzwischen als Denkmal an einem besonderen Platz auf der Insel.
Finde das Denkmal und gehe 40 Meter in Richtung 42° (True North) um
den Cache zu finden!
