Ilha da Ereira, ó Guernesey dorida,
Onde me exilo a este sol de inverno,
Que irá no meu País? Que irá na Vida?
Afonso Duarte, em "Diálogo com a minha Terra"

Ereira, a terra natal do Poeta Afonso Duarte, está situada em plena planície de aluvião do Mondego. Particularmente vulnerável às cheias, é conhecida como Ilha Mártir do Mondego. Ainda se podem observar nas paredes das casas as marcas do nível atingido pelas águas nas diversas cheias, como por exemplo a grande cheia de 2001.

A primeira "habitação" de que há memória na granja da Ereira é a casa do Torreão de 1414, que mais tarde serviu como atelier de João de Ruão, mas só no século XIX é que surgem as restantes habitações que compõem a freguesia (Wikipédia).

Ereira, homeland of the Poet Afonso Duarte is located in Mondego's flood plane. Especially vurnelable to the floods, it's known as The Martyr Island of the Mondego. You can still see in some walls trhoughout the village the marks of the water level for the different floods like the big one in 2001.

The first "house," as far as known, in Ereira is the "Casa do Torreão" dated from 1414 and that later was used as the workshop of João de Ruão. The remaining houses only started to be built on the 19th century (Wikipedia)

A Cache encontra-se no Lago/Parque de Merendas, perto da Igreja, do Monumento ao Pescador e do monumento ao Poeta Afonso Duarte. Cuidado com os muggles frequentadores do campo de jogos em frente!
Aproveitem para tomar nota da data de Inauguração deste monumento, pois ser-vos-á útil para encontrar uma futura cache da zona!

The cache is in the Lagoon/Picnic Area, close to the church, the Monument to the Fishermen and the Monument to the Poet Afonso Duarte. Beware of the muggles in the playfield in front of the cache!
Take the opportunity to make a note of the date of this monument: it will be usefull to find a future cache in the area!
