This multi-cache is designed to take you on a wander through the lesser-known streets of Marylebone. The total walk from end to end is approximately 15 minutes, so with the added time of calculating your waypoint co-ordinates this multi will probably take no more than an hour.
The multi has two waypoints and the final is a nano cache with a log but no pen so you will need to bring one with you. You will also need a sheet of paper to do your calculations.
Due to the surrounding buildings, the accuracy of GPS reception here may be inaccurate but you should easily be able to find the information you need at the various waypoints.
Parking: Please note that all the waypoints and caches are located within the London congestion charging zone (operational Monday-Friday, check cclondon.com for details). Also parking charges are high in this area so public transport is recommended.
Suggested tube stations: Baker Street or Regent’s Park

START
This church is located over the Tyburn river (formerly known as the Ty bourne) which originally flowed from Hampstead down to Westminster Abbey. It is now contained entirely underground. The church is named after St Mary the Virgin by the Bourne (hence Marylebone).
Look at the plaque above the door of the church. To find your next co-ordinates, convert the date of the church’s consecration into DD/MM/YYYY format, which correspond to the letters as follows: AB/CD/EFGH
The co-ordinates of the first waypoint are:

First waypoint:
You are standing close to a small monument commemorating a very well known Methodist and his brother.
Ignoring the last digit of the Roman numeral on the monument (the letter M), calculate the year that it was erected (1856) this will be ABCD. Then, using the surname of the brothers mentioned, allocate a number according to where each letter falls in the alphabet, e.g. A=1, B=2 etc. IMPORTANT: where a letter corresponds to a two digit number, use the second number only (e.g. M=13 therefore use the number 3). This is EFGHIJ
The co-ordinates of the second waypoint are:

Second waypoint:
The church you find yourself standing outside is of early Gothic design and ranks as one of the most attractive in London. Built entirely of stone, the arches of the nave are supported by pillars with marble colonettes. I hope you get a chance to have a look inside.
To find your way to the next waypoint, look at the red sign in front of you. Using the same method as you did in the last clue, assign a number for each letter for the FIRST WORD IN THE BOTTOM ROW of the sign. This is ABCDEFGHI.

Once you have located the cache, you may like to visit the nearby gallery in the same square that you are now standing in. One of London’s most renowned art collections, it is free to visit and is open from 10-5 every day. There are some very famous paintings here!
