Geocache Description:

Get to know a unique restaurant/retail area. This puzzle cache shouldn't take too long to find, but it is not a Grab-N-Go, either. BYOP, it's a log only cache.

This cache will introduce you to a retail area with a twist. The land has been in the family for over 100 years and is part of the original family farm. Desiring to give a nod to the past and also steer clear of the standard strip mall, the owners developed the property to resemble buildings on the original farm. These buildings include the barn, the farmhouse, the stables, and the country store, replicating the look of the farm's original store, which opened in 1900 and was an integral part of the surrounding community's life. When the country store inexplicably burned down in October of 1954 during a very dry fall, folks guessed at the time that a mouse must have scratched and ignited an old-timey box of matches. The men in the community helped "Mr. Walter" (Robinson) reopen days later at his nearby warehouse.

As noted on their website, the Village at Robinson Farm is an environmentally-friendly development. The project has been awarded LEED SILVER certification as a participant in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Core and Shell program (LEED-CS). To achieve this certification, high standards in design and planning must be met. Reclaimed materials were used in construction when possible and this adds to the overall appeal of the site.

Start your visit near the central fountain built of antique bricks which features a large granite millstone as its splash-block. To find the missing digits of the final cache coordinates you will need to answer a couple of easy questions and do some simple math.

N 35 0X.XXX To find the North Coordinate:

Take the 4-digit street number of the northernmost farm building. Add to this the year in which the original country store burned down. Subtract this sum from 13546.

W 080 XX.XXX To find the West Coordinate:

Take the year the country store first opened and add the 4-digit street number of the westernmost farm building. Subtract this sum from 59070.

Enjoy your visit! Thanks to the Charlotte Observer for anecdotal information (the mouse and the matches).

CONGRATULATIONS to beemerdon on being the FTF!!
