A Tree Along the Nature Trail Traditional Geocache

WERDAVE: Sadly, it looks like my "new" location for the one was not very good. Some time in the year+ since I last checked on it, the cache and camo have gone somewhere, probably down the slope with the help of the meager rains we had last winter and maybe with some muggle help, but I could find no trace of the camo or cache. Since the camo was part of the quality of the hide, I'm going to let this one go. Thanks to all who visited. Maybe I'll replace it with something near the location, but I'll wait a while to see if anyone else is interested in the spot. I did notice that all the nature trail signs have been restored, and that the code can be scanned for more info.

Geocache Description:

A fully camoed bison tube just off the Laural Canyon Nature Trail in Santa Teresa County Park.

The camo and container for this cache are re-used from our Tree Along Water cache, where it appeared to go missing only to show up again after it was replaced.

This cache is near our now archived cache slightly farther along the trail. The trail is clearly marked, but doesn't appear on the official park map. It shares part of the Ohlone Trail and then branches off up a very pretty little canyon ending in a small seasonal water fall. It is a lovely trail built by scouts. A little hard to get to, but worth the effort.

The cache is located within 15 feet of the nature trail on the uphill side. If you find yourself headed farther off the trail or up any steep banks, you are GOING TO THE WRONG PLACE.

The terrain is a mild 2.5 with and would be a 1.5 except that the cache is about a 1 mile round trip mostly on single-track trails from the nearest parking, and the last 15-20 feet. The difficulty rating reflects the problems the trees cause for GPS reception. Without that, it is more like a 1.5 difficulty for any but the newest of cachers.

If all you are doing is going for this cache, the closest parking is at the bottom of the hill where Bernal Road just enters the park. From there you will need to walk along the road a little ways and then the Ohlone trail -- about a 1 mile round trip. Coming down the hill to this cache is definitely NOT recommended -- and a bad idea as well!

Update 6/14/17: Due to risk of damaging the hillside more than the pigs already are doing, the cache has been moved to a location a little closer to the trail, and on a more mild slope. There IS PO quite close to the cache, but it should be easily avoidable. Since the main purpose of this cache is to draw folks to this nice little trail, the hint has been made more specific and a spoiler photo has been added. Coordinates have been updated.
