Geocache Description:

Another walking cache on the Plateau

Ohinepango Springs - One of the most beautiful spots in the Tongariro National Park. Take the Track to Waihohonu hut off SH1south of Turangi Walk approx 1 hour - Turn left at the four way track intersection Follow the track to Rangipo Hut for about 20 - 25 minutes. Once across the Ohinepango Stream a sign post indicates the location of the springs.



A Beautiful Place

Crystal clear cold water bubbles up from beneath an old lava flow and discharges at an enormous rate into the Ohinepango Stream.

The cache is a 100ml systema in a TK Camo Bag. Please ensure that the cache is replaced carefully lid to the top to avoid seepage getting in under the lid as this is a very wet area in winter.
