O Palácio de São Bento, é um enorme edíficio de estilo neoclássico situado em Lisboa, sendo a sede do Parlamento de Portugal desde 1834.
Foi construído em finais do século XVI como mosteiro beneditino (Mosteiro de S. Bento da Saúde). Com a extinção das ordens religiosas em Portugal passou a ser propriedade do Estado.
Depois da implantação do regime liberal tornou-se sede das Cortes Gerais da Nação, passando a ser conhecido por Palácio das Cortes.
Acompanhando as mudanças da denominação oficial do Parlamento, o Palácio foi, também, tendo várias denominações oficiais: Palácio das Cortes (1834-1911), Palácio do Congresso (1911-1933) e Palácio da Assembleia Nacional (1933-1974). Em meados do século XX passou a utilizar-se, geralmente, a designação de Palácio de S. Bento em memória do antigo Convento. Essa denominação manteve-se, depois de 1976, quando passou a ser a sede da Assembleia da República.
Ao longo dos séculos XIX e XX o Palácio foi sofrendo uma série de grandes obras de remodelação, interiores e exteriores, que o tornaram quase completamente distinto do antigo Mosteiro. O interior é igualmente grandioso, repleto de alas e de obras de arte de diferentes épocas da história de Portugal.
O palácio foi classificado como Monumento Nacional em 2002.
Palácio de São Bento Residência de S. Bento
Nas traseiras do edifício principal, em terrenos do outrora mosteiro, situa-se um palacete mandado construir em 1877 por Joaquim Machado Cayres para sua residência.
Em 1937, durante o Estado Novo, este foi adquirido pelo Estado através de expropriação, para nele instalar a residência oficial do presidente do Conselho de Ministros. Embora Oliveira Salazar, então presidente do Conselho, se tenha mudado para lá em 1938, só um ano mais tarde, em Abril de 1939, se inaugurou oficialmente o novo uso do palacete.
Este palacete continua ainda hoje a ser a residência oficial do primeiro-ministro de Portugal. Muitas vezes, por desconhecimento, a Comunicação Social refere-se também a este palacete como Palácio de S. Bento, sendo que a designação oficial é Residência Oficial do Primeiro-Ministro.

The São Bento Palace , is a huge neoclassical style edíficio located in Lisbon, being the seat of the Parliament of Portugal since 1834.
It was built at the end of the century XVI(1) as Benedictine monastery (monastery of s. Benedict health).With the extinction of the religious orders in utilitypass Portugal to be State property.
