Une promenade tranquille ? Pas si sûr que ça !!!
RAPPEL DES FAITS :
1) Qui est Jo LABRET ?
De son vrai nom Georges TRIVIAL, ce petit malfrat maladroit et naïf, a comme idole le trop célèbre Albert SPAGGIARI au point d'avoir pris comme nom de guerre l'anagramme de son prénom ! Parmi ses théories (il en crée à chaque occasion ou presque !), il y a "Se montrer pour ne pas être vu" allant ainsi jusqu'à arborer une casquette rouge à chacune de ses sorties ou, dans la même veine, "La meilleure cachette est celle qui se voit !". Ses larcins sont souvent minables et la seule véritable ressemblance avec son idôle est qu'il n'est ni dangereux, ni méchant : (Sans armes, ni haine, ni violence).
2) Jo vient encore de faire un mauvais coup. Comme à son habitude il s'est empressé de cacher son maigre butin à proximité immédiate. Cette fois-ci, c'est au bord du canal qui amenait l'eau de la Vésubie à Nice. Méticuleux comme toujours, il a pris soin de disséminer et de cacher les six codes de la combinaison. Imprudent aussi, il en a noté minutieusement les emplacements et celui du coffre, tout juste codés !
La mission :
Moi, Vagabond, je suis sur ses traces depuis des semaines et j'ai réussi à m'emparer de ses notes. Occupé à épier ses moindres gestes (Jo prépare à l'évidence une autre opération !), je vous demande à vous, mes plus fins limiers, de relever au plus vite les six codes de la combinaison et d'ouvrir le coffre avant l'arrivée de complices. Mais, attention, le coin est cerné de moldus avides de butin eux aussi !!! Agissez discrètement !
Voici les cinq feuillets avec les notes de Jo (GC226EQ, GC226ET, GC226EV, GC226JY et GC227J9). Je vous fais confiance et vous laisse agir.
Consignes particulières pour cette mission :
Connaissant bien Jo, il est certain qu'il a tout regroupé (éléments de la combinaison et coffre) le long du canal et qu'il est reparti par où il était venu. Vos investigations peuvent donc raisonnablement s'estimer à un aller-retour, soit environ 3,5 Km au total. Si Jo a choisi ce sentier, c'est bien entendu parce qu'il se parcourt aisèment, le terrain n'offrant guère de difficulté. En revanche, ll offre peu d'endroits pour cacher des combinaisons et le coffre (Jo craint plus les enfants curieux que les adultes surtout soucieux d'eux-mêmes !!!). Il est donc plus que probable qu'il a utilisé les abords immédiats dont les accès (ponts et talus) sont autant d'obstacles physiques que d'interdictions parentales. D'ailleurs, même les adultes doivent être prudents les jours de pluie ou même d'humidité résiduelle en raison des risques de glissades. De l'attention et de bonnes chaussures de marche ne sont pas inutiles.
Règles élémentaires :
Discrétion : La plupart des moldus que vous rencontrerez sont d'innoncents joggeurs et ne s'occuperont guère de vos activités. Pour peu bien entendu que vous n'éveillez pas trop leur curiosité ! Hormis toutefois la première étape, la plupart du temps ils ne seront pas un véritable handicap pour vos investigations si elles s'avèrent raisonnables et mesurées. Cependant, des complices de Jo ou simplement des gens mal intentionnés ayant eu vent d'un trésor dans les parages peuvent traîner dans les environs ! Donnez donc le change !
Efficacité : Si je vous ai choisis, c'est pour vos qualités de fins limiers. Tout au long du parcours, jouez aux touristes (la vue est superbe !). Mais ne négligez pas les détails et indices qui peuvent jalonner le chemin. Et n'oubliez pas votre attirail habituel, notamment un double mètre (ruban ou autre), de quoi écrire et prendre des notes et me faire votre rapport, etc.

BONNE TRAQUE
En fin de mission, muni des six codes (A,B,C,X,Y,Z) relevés dans les cinq caches du parcours, complètez les coordonnées du coffre :
N 43°44.ABC, E 007.15.XYZ
et mettez son contenu à l'abri. N'oubliez pas d'effacer vos traces et de laisser les apparences intactes, telles que vous les avez trouvées. C'est important pour ne pas éveiller l'attention de Jo que je veux surprendre en flagrant délit !

A quiet walk? Not so sure!!!
BACKGROUND :
1) Who is Jo LABRET ?
His real name is Georges TRIVIAL, a small-time clumsy and naive villain who admires the too well-known Albert SPAGGIARI so much that he adopted an anagram of his first name as his "nom de guerre" ! Among his theories (he invents new ones at every occasion or almost !), there is "Be obvious and not be seen" thus going as far as wearing a red hat every time he goes out. In the same vein, he says : "The best hide is one that is easily seen !". His small thefts, often pathetic, and his only resemblence with his hero are that he is neither dangerous nor cruel : (No weapons, no hatred, no violence).
2)Jo just committed another bad deed. As he usually does, he quickly hid his small booty in the nearest place. This time, he chose the canal that brings water from the Vésubie to Nice. Always careful, he took great pains to spread around and hide the six codes of the combination. Also foolhardy, he carefully noted down the locations of the codes as well as that of the chest, barely encoded !
The Mission :
I, Vagabond, have been tracking him for weeks and have succeeded in grabbing his notes. Since I am busy spying on his every move (obviously he is preparing another operation!), I am asking you, my finest detectives, to quickly find and note down the six codes of the combination and open the chest before the arrival of his accomplices. Beware, the area is full of loot-hungry muggles!!! Act surreptiously !
Here are the five sheets with Jo's notes (GC226EQ, GC226ET, GC226EV, GC226JY et GC227J9). I trust you and will let you act freely.
Special instructions for this mission :
Knowing Jo as I know him it is certain that he has grouped the bits of the combination and the chest along the canal and that he left the same way as he came in. It is thus reasonable to assume you will have to do a return walk of approxiamtely 3.5km. The reason why Jo chose this trail is that it is an easy one to walk. On the other hand, the area has few places where combinations and the chest may be hidden (Jo worries more about curious children than self-conscious adults !!!) It is then almost certain that he used the areas closest to entryn points (bridges and slopes) which are physical obstacles and which are the subject of parental restrictions. In any case, even adults have to be careful on rainy days or humid periods not to slide down. Being alert and wearing good shoes are the basic rules.
Summary precautions :
Be discreet : most of the muggles that you will encounter are carefree joggers who will not care about what you are doing... as long as you do nothing to make them curious! Except for the first leg, they should not be too worrisome for your investigations as long as your actions appear reasonable and judicious. Jo's accomplices, however, or ill-meaning people having heard of a treasure in the area may be loitering nearby. Appear to do the same !
Efficiency : I have chosen you because you are perspicacious. All along the course, look like tourists (the view is superb !). But don't disregard clues and details along the way. And don't forget the regular equipment, specially a double-metre rule (tape measure or other), and something to write with and to take notes in order to complete your report to me.
On arrival, start your investigations with sheet GC226EQ.
HAPPY HUNTING
At the end of your investigations, using the six codes that you have found (A,B,C,X,Y,Z) in the five caches you can complete the coordinates of the chest :
N 43°44.ABC, E 007.15.XYZ
and put its contents in a safe place. Don't forget to obliterate any traces and to leave the area unchanged. This is specially important to avoid raising Jo's suspicion since I want to catch him red-handed.
