Located in the Gigerline Nature Reserve, this impressive guard post was built a long time ago! Others might call this the Gigerline Escarpment, but clearly they haven’t discovered its true significance. As granite was way too hard to build into a battlement, sandstone was used instead. (Makes a change from granite for once anyways...) This battlement overlooks the mighty Murrumbidgee below, and was used by the Gigerlineians to fire upon pirate ships that may have sailed there, a long time ago - when there was actually some water in there!
After finding the cache, if you manage to breach the battlements, you will find yourself on top of Mt Gigerline itself! (834m) It’s not far, only another 100m from the cache, and very worthwhile, as from there you are offered impressive views over Mt Tennent, Castle Hill, Tharwa bridge, the Murrumbidgee, Namadgi, Tinderrys, Brindabellas, a trig and some Cows.
Please BYO pen.
