SANGUINHO
O Sanguinho, antigo aglomerado populacional pertencente à freguesia do Faial da Terra, agora em fase de recuperação com fins de turismo em espaço rural, é um local com elevado grau de misticismo onde se testemunha o conceito de ruralidade e pacatez por excelência. É um lugar visitado por turistas de todo o mundo onde, actualmente, se realizam magníficos passeios pedestres até ao que se pode designar por “Paraíso Perdido” que é o Salto do Prego, e por toda a zona do Faial da Terra, uma área a explorar face à diversidade de trilhos existentes. O seu nome advém da existência, em abundância no local, da planta Sanguinho (Frangula azorica), usada na tinturaria. O Faial da Terra sempre foi uma freguesia muito ligada à agricultura e como tal, o trilho homologado era o percurso, por excelência, efectuado pelos agricultores que iam cultivar as terras. Na altura, não haviam transportes, nem tão pouco estradas de acesso às terras que geravam o ganha-pão das famílias dos agricultores.
The Sanguinho, former agglomeration belonging to the parish of Faial da Terra, now catching up with the purpose of tourism in rural areas, is a place with a high degree of mysticism where you witness the concept of rural serenity and par excellence. It is a place visited by tourists from around the world where currently are held magnificent walks up to what might be called the "Paradise Lost" which is the Salto do Prego, and the whole area of Faial da Terra, an area exploit to the diversity of existing tracks. Its name comes from the existence in abundance in the local plant Sanguinho (Frangula azorica), used in dyeing. Faial da Terra has always been a neighborhood very linked to agriculture and as such, the trail was approved the route per excellence, made by farmers who would cultivate the land. At the time, there were no transport, nor access roads to the lands that generated the livelihood of farm households.
