Geocache Description:

In medieval times, Rushford was home to a college of chantry priests, and this was their church. The founder was Edmund Gonville who went on to found Gonville Hall in Cambridge, later to become Gonville and Caius College.

The college building still survives, just to the south of the churchyard and is now a stunningly beautiful private house.

If you are a fan of cult films this church may seem familiar as it was used in the film The Witchfinder General.

For further information please see Simon Knott’s excellent page on his Norfolk Churches website.

The cache is hidden just outside the churchyard but do take the time to go in and have a look around.

If anybody would like to expand the Church Micro series please do, we would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names, to avoid duplication.
