Une petite promenade vers les hauteurs d’Ax-Les-Thermes, d’où vous pourrez découvrir une belle vue sur cette jolie ville.
Selon la légende, ce rocher empêcherait le Diable de sortir de terre !
Dieu aurait neutralisé le Malin qui exerçait sa mauvaise influence sur les habitants d’Ax-Les-Thermes en le jetant sous la terre et en plaçant cet énorme roc sur lui !
Depuis, il se débat pour sortir et fait ainsi jaillir des eaux chauffées et chargées en soufre au contact de l’enfer…..
Si vous regardez à votre droite, vous pourrez apercevoir les ruines récemment réhabilitées du Château des Maures ou Castel Maou (12ème / 14ème siècle). L'accès est interdit, à cause des fouilles.

A short walk to the heights of Ax-Les-Thermes, where you will discover a nice view of this beautiful town.
According to the legend, the rock prevents the Devil from going out of earth!
God supposedly neutralized the Devil which exercised its bad influence on the inhabitants of Ax-Les-Thermes by throwing him under the ground and placing this huge rock on him!
Since then, he has been struggling to emerge and thus makes hot water loaded with hell sulfur spurt out .....
If you look to your right you will see the ruins recently rehabilitated of “Château des Maures” or “Castel Maou” (12th / 14th century). Access is prohibited because of the excavations.
