Geocache Description:

There's a nice view from here over the nearby suburbs and out to the mountains, **The cache is above the cutting and there is no need to go near the edge**. This forms part of my ONLINE series of caches that attempt to share the great walking trail I have enjoyed for many years along the sides of this now mainly unused railway line. The tourist train may occasionally use the line so please stay off the now rusted tracks just in case.

I have traveled past this area several times by train over the years when it was active as a commercial line, this was when the area visible from here that I now live in was just open paddocks!. The old train was very primitive by todays standards as it was rough, noisy, everything stunk of diesel and with hard bench seats that were incredibly uncomfortable by the time the five hour journey had finally finished. Air conditioning was unavailable so it was boiling in summer and a risk of frostbite in the depths of winter due to ineffective heating.
This railway marks the border between the ACT and NSW from near Queanbeyan out to the the southern border near the Monaro highway border crossing.
