Geocache Description:

This is a large cache, easy to find. An somewhat easy park and grab. This is the beginning of a Cache-to-Eagle series the Three Fires Council had back in 2010. The Staff has been alerted to your arrival, so don't be timid on your visit!

Three Fires Council's participation in the "Get in the Game!" Geocaching program, part of the 2010 100th Anniversary celebration, includes a series of hides with the theme, "Cache to Eagle." Each hide is at a location at or near an historic Eagle Project. A Bookmark list has been created for the 12 caches (some missing now), and will include additional "Get in the Game" hides in Three Fires Council: TFC Cache to Eagle. Eagle Projects are special service projects that benefit the community or a community organization such as a church, school, park, museum, etc. Often this service is done quietly and unnoticed because the purpose is for the Boy Scout to meet certain requirements of leadership and service. His recognition may come in the form of attaining the rank of Eagle, but the greater reward is in having accomplished such a remarkable project and in the satisfaction of helping others. However, it is fitting to recognize the selfless effort given by these young men, and the Boy Scouts of America and it's leaders, who provide the program through which these boys learn the skills necessary to complete such a project. Some of these are simple, and some are very complex. Always, the Boy Scout demonstrates planning and leadership and always the project benefits the community. It is difficult to estimate the number of Eagle projects completed in the Three Fires Council area, and many of those known are either not accessible to Geocachers, such as those benefitting schools or on private property, and some projects are not evident to visitors. So the Three Fires Council "Get in the Game!" committee staff have worked together to choose a number of Eagle projects in each of our 10 districts, more than 100 locations. Each location was recorded with GPS, and one in each district was chosen for placement of a permanent physical cache.
