"There are few who would deny at what I do I am the best, for my
talents are renowned far and wide.
When it comes to surprises in the moonlit night I excel without
ever even trying.
With the slightest little effort of my ghostlike charms I have
seen grown men give out a shriek.
With the wave of my hand and a well-placed moan I have swept the
very bravest off their feet."
That is a verse from
'Jack's
Lament', sung by Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before
Christmas. Jack is one of my favorite Halloween characters
ever, and I have wanted to put out a cache in his honor for some
time.
For those of you not in the know, Jack is the ruler of Halloween
Town, a place where the residents work year-round creating new
frights to unleash upon the world every October 31st.
Jack the Pumpkin King has taken some time from his busy schedule
to pay us a visit, and he has even bought a gift along. It would be
most unwise of you not to return the favor...
Cache Notes:
Park at the end of Pent Road in Weston – see waypoint. For the
easiest approach head towards Trail Marker #29 from the parking
lot. Bear left there, and head up the trail until you see any
half-clear opening in the Laurel. Please respect this beautiful
preserve, and consider making a donation to
The Nature Conservancy. In addition, a trail map can be downloaded
here.
Enjoy!
