From the A512, turn down to Barrow upon Trent and drive down past the pub.
As the road swings right you will need to go straight on to the church. Just before you do, you will see on the right an attractive run of ten Grade II listed cottages, known as "The Row". These are owned by the Parish Council and rented to people with village connections.
Go straight on to the church and on the right opposite the church gate you will see "The Pinfold", a small walled area originally used for holding stray cattle.
The road continues left past the church and you will soon see a lane on the right heading south. You can not go up here in a car but you can walk.
It is best to park at the start of the green lane on the wide grass verges near the bench and then walk up the lane.
This lane is popular with local dog walkers but other than that, it is very quiet.
Just before the gate across the end of the lane there is another gate on the right. There are signs on the gate saying "No Fishing", "No Cycling" and "Danger - Deep Water".
Go in here and follow the well maintained path until you come to a large enclosed meadow area with a small lake in the middle. It was an old quarry but it is now a haven for waterfowl, you will usually see ducks, swans, geese and coots. You can follow the path all the way around the water for a nice pleasant walk at all times of the year.
The cache is small, no room for swops, bring your own pen.
Moved from its original location in April 2022 as it tends to flood there. Now in a drier location.
