A  Geradmer, le glacier s’est retiré il ya 10000 ans déjà !

 Dernier témoin de son passage ; «  la roche du lac » qu’on appel une roche  moutonnée pour sa ressemblance à un dos de mouton. Son aspect bosselé est  le résultat de la grande pression sur le sol qu’à exercé le glacier en se retirant et de part son action abrasive sur cette roche granitique.

 Il est facile d’interpréter le sens de poussée du glacier en regardant la surface du bloc, il a érodé et poli la face amont en une pente douce ; c’est le bord d’attaque, et la face aval en une pente raide et raboteuse qui ressemble à des marches  d’escalier , c’est la sortie

At Geradmer, the glacier withdrew already 10000 years ago !

 Last witness of its crossing is “ La Roche du  lac” also called roche moutonnée (or sheepback) for its resemblance of a back of sheep. It’s looks is the result of the big pressure that the glacier exerted on the ground when it was withdrawing and of its abrasive action on this granitic rock.

It’s easy to interpret the direction of movement of the glacier by looking at the surface of the block ,

The upstream side is gently sloped it’s where the glacier started his attack, and the other is vertical to steeply sloped, it’s the exit
