Spotting this “in plain sight” cache should be easy. But retrieving
it to sign the log will require keen observation skills and
utilization of a cache retrieval tool hidden very near the posted
coordinates. Once you have found the retrieval tool, you must
search for the number combination to unlock it. The number
combination is available near the cache or you can check the hint.
More adventurous geocachers may be tempted to climb the tree to
retrieve the container, but there’s absolutely no need to do so. In
fact, in keeping with the spirit in which this cache was conceived,
we ask that you please NOT climb the tree!
Once you have the retrieval tool in hand think magnets! To
prevent the cache from retracting to its hiding spot while you sign
the log and look through the swag, we’ve installed a caribiner clip
that you can fasten to the small wooden stake we’ve installed at
the base of the tree.
Please be sure the container is properly seated in its hiding
spot when you’re through. Also, replace and re-lock the retrieval
tool so it’s available for the use by the next finder.
Parking is available at the dead end on 24th Street SW.
Commuters who walk and bike frequent the nearby pathway, so
depending on the day and time you visit, there may be lots of
muggles going by.
NOTE: This cache is for the CCARS09 event, and should not be
sought out until after 5:30 pm on September 25th, 2009 and any logs
before that will be deleted. CCARS09 caches are published the
evening before to give everyone the chance to look at the cache
listings, solve puzzles and devise their battle plans before the
hunt begins.
