Geocache Description:

Cache Information
The track takes you extremely close to a golf course, so when at this section of the walk please be respectful of the golfers, and listen carefully for anyone shouting fore!

Park at the near by train station, and walk down the hill until you see the entrance to the path. No one should need to walk through any burns, or climb any fences to find this cache. Please stick to the trail.

Jock's Gill
Jock's Gill was once described by Ordnance Survey officers in the 1850's as "romantic and sometimes precipitous glen, the greater part of it thickly wooded". I wonder if the shopping trolleys and tyres in the burn help to maintain the "romantic" feel. Jock's Gill falls on three estates: Mauldslie, Hallcraig, and Milton Lockhart.

Jock's Burn
Jocks burn runs right through the middle of Carluke. From what I can see in the map it starts at Yeildshields and flows all the way to the Clyde. For those who like a good explorer rather than a cache and dash, you should definitely checkout the waterfall. Most people in Carluke are unaware of this small waterfall. Looks fantastic on a wet day, but harder to get to. Check out the additional way point.

Hallcraig House
Hallcraig House, a mansion it would seem, existed in Carluke in the 1800's. Family names I have found asociated with the mansion are "Campbell", "Hamilton" and "Gordon". In 1880 a brickworks with various associated clay pits were opened in Hallcraig near the present golf course. The golf course have named hole 8 after the historial house naming it "Ha' craig"

Clyde Walkway
For those who like a bit of adventure, I recommend following the burn all the way to the Clyde. Once you find the cache, head to the waterfall (see the additional way point), keep following the flow of the burn which will eventually take you to the Clyde Walkway near Rosebank. Experienced walkers only please.

Stick to the left hand side of the burn, as the right hand side is a nightmare to maneuver about.

To see the route myself and my good friend, James, took click here. Our trail went through Carluke, Rosebank, Crossford and Briadwood. It also passes another 3 caches.

Ralf Buxton
This is the starting point of my first trackable, and good friend Ralf Buxton. He has an extremely interesting mission and story, so please visit his webpage and see what he's about. Maybe you could help him along his way.

Congratulations to Sweeney Toddlers who found this cache within 24 hours of it being activated and becoming the FTF.
