Agia Marina Petrified Forest is located at the Southern part of Peloponnese, Laconia.

On a wide part of the coastal area, fossilized palmtrees aged 2-3 million years, of species Rhyzoplmoxylon sp have been discovered. There is another opinion though, that these formations are volcanic chimneys and not fossils, with many scientists working in this research area.The distance from Athens is 5-5:30 hours by car if you take the Athens-Corinth-Tripolis-Sparta-Neapoli way. To reach Neapoli, head to Monemvasia after Sparta and 40 km choose the new way to Skala, Vlachioti, Papadianika, Daimonia, Elika, Pantanassa and finaly Neapolis. After Neapolis, you continue to Kalenia, Lachi, Agios Nicolaos. In about 8km asphalt road and dirt road begins. Depending on wheather conditions, the road may be accessible for non 4x4 cars or not. Continue the ride and where Profitis Ilias right turn is located, head left to Agia Marina. Wooden signs lead the way. Park and walk to the beach. You now see the Municipality of Voia kiosk with the explanatory signs that give description of the place/geology in detail. The cache is not located on the beach, because that area is a geological monument.
The box is 10x10x5cm plastic container with logbook, pencil, sharpener and small stuff to trade.
Σε μεγάλο τμήμα της παραλιακής ζώνης έχουν βρεθεί απολιθωμένοι φοίνικες ηλικίας 2-3 εκ. ετών, του είδους Rhyzoplmoxylon sp. Το μέρος να αποτελεί μήλον της έριδος για την επιστημονική κοινότητα, αφού εκφράζονται διαφορετικές απόψεις για τις γεωμορφές αυτές, ότι δεν είναι απολιθωμένοι φοίνικες, αλλά ηφαιστειακές καμινάδες. Με αφετηρία την Αθήνα χρειάζεστε 5 έως 5.30 ώρες για να φθάσετε στη Νεάπολη ακολουθώντας την εθνική οδό Αθηνών-Κορίνθου -Τριπόλεως- Μεγαλόπολης-Σπάρτης. Από τη Σπάρτη κατευθύνεστε προς Γύθειο -Μονεμβασιά. Περίπου 40 χλμ μετά τη Σπάρτη υπάρχει ανισόπεδη γέφυρα που σας κατευθύνει προς το νέο δρόμο με τον οποίο αποφεύγετε όλες τις στροφές των Κροκεών. Συνεχίζετε για Σκάλα, Βλαχιώτη, Παπαδιάνικα, Δαιμονιά, Ελίκα, Παντάνασα και κατηφορίζετε για Νεάπολη.Αφού βγείτε από τη Νεάπολη συνεχίζετε για Καλένια, Λάχη, Άγιο Νικόλαο. Περίπου 8 χλμ μετά, τελειώνει η άσφαλτος και αρχίζει ο χωματόδρομος. Ανάλογα με τις κλιματικές συνθήκες ο δρόμος είναι προσπελάσιμος και από συμβατικό αυτοκίνητο. Στη διασταύρωση που δεξιά πάει για Προφήτη Ηλία, εσείς συνεχίζετε αριστερά για Αγία Μαρίνα και ακολουθείτε τις ξύλινες πινακίδες για το απολιθωμένο δάσος. Το περίπτερο του δήμου Βοιών και οι ταμπέλες επεξηγούν λεπτομερώς την γεωλογία της περιοχής. Από σεβασμό στο γεωλογικό αυτό μνημείο, το cache δεν είναι τοποθετημένο εντός της παραλιακής ζώνης.
