Geocache Description:

Filerimos is a hill 15 km away from Rhodes-town, in the ancient city of Ialysos once stood on the slopes of Mountain Filerimos. It can be reached by car.

When visiting the area to search for the cache make sure you explore the surroundings. Filerimos means friend of solitude after the 10th-century settlement here by Byzantine hermits. Filerimos Hill and the surrounding area are steeped in history, the place was restored by the Italians and British. The monastery that is standing there dates from the rule of the Knights. A short walk from the monastery and archeological zone is the Way of the Cross, with 14 stations marked out in copper plaques that lead to an enormous concrete crucifix for a truly amazing view.

The cache is a blue cylinder container big enough to hold geocoins and small trackables.

Small note on the maintenance: The owner of the cache is frequently in Rhodes. During any absense periods, the cache will be maintained by his family that live in Rhodes permanently.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is not allowed to drive up the filerimos hill after 21:00h
