The land on the west side of the road here belongs to the Ramona Municipal Water District. The land on the east side, from the road to runway 27 at Ramona Airport, belongs to Wildlife Conservation Board. These grasslands are the Cagney Ranch Conservation Preserve and the Eagle Ranch Conservation Preserve, both part of the Ramona Conservation Project. They are the home of the favorite foods of owls, hawks, falcons and eagles. With a little patience you will see lots of hawks and very likely a golden eagle or two.
