Geocache Description:

A fun two-stage multi at Popham Beach! WARNING: THIS CACHE SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED DURING HIGH TIDE!

The provided coordinates will take you to the summit of Fox Island, a small island just off the coast at Popham Beach. As mentioned above, this cache is not available at (or around) high tide. It is very important: DO NOT GO OUT TO THE ISLAND WHEN THE TIDE IS COMING IN. YOU WILL GET TRAPPED!!!

The coordinates are for a small stone monument placed in memory of Dale Hatch. In order to get the coordinates for the final, please visit the monument and gather the following information to get to the final.

The final stage is a micro with a log and pencil, but you might want to bring your own pen.
It is located at N 43 AB.CDE W 69 FG.HIJ

A = B
B = F
C = the number of "u"s on the monument
D = J - E
E = the number of "i"s on the monument
F = D * 2
G = A * 2
H = D
I = J + D
J = the number of "t"s on the monument

I have come to Popham Beach at least once a summer when I come to Maine to visit my dad and grandparents who live in Phippsburg. The beach has changed quite a bit and much of the sand dunes and trees have been washed away in the past year or two, and are still being washed away as the high tide gets higher and higher. I think I have placed the cache far enough away from the water level so that it won't be washed away. Only time will tell.
