Geocache Description:


 English  The site of the Varna Necropolis was discovered by accident in October 1972 somewhere in the area of the west industrial zone of the city close to Varna lake. 294 graves have been found and 30% of the estimated necropolis area is still not excavated. The graves have been dated to 4600-4200 BC and belong to the Eneolithic Varna Culture. Some graves do not contain a skeleton, but grave gifts. Interestingly, the symbolic (empty) graves are the richest in gold artifacts. 3000 gold artifacts were found, with a weight of approximately 6 kilograms. Grave 43 contained more gold than has been found in the entire rest of the world for that epoch. It is considered that this is the oldest gold treasure in the world. Some of the artifacts can be seen at the Varna Archaeological Museum located at the published coordinates of the cache.

 Български  Мястото на Варненския некропол е открито случайно през октомври 1972г. в района на Западна промишлена зона на града близо до Варненско езеро. Открити са 294 гроба и около 30% от предполагаемата пълна площ на некропола не са екскавирани. Гробовете са датирани към 4600-4200 пр.н.е. и принадлежат на енеолитната варненска култура. Някои гробове не съдържат човешки останки, а само предмети. Намерени са 3000 златни артефакти, с общо тегло над 6 килограма. Гроб 43 съдържал повече злато, отколкото е намирано в целия свят за тази епоха. Счита се, че това е най-старото златно съкровище в света. Някои от находките могат да бъдат разгледани във Варненския археологически музей, намиращ се на публикуваните координати.
